Since I was five, dance has always been my least favorite kind of performance art. Something about the movement, the precision, and training just didn’t sit well in my heart.
But I never forced myself to like dance. I never expected to be the best dancer in the room. We all tend to put too many expectations on ourselves to be good at things that just aren’t in our nature.
We have our innate talents and everything else should just be water under the bridge. Every person has the thing they’re the best at, and we shouldn’t ask them to be good at anything else. That same sentiment goes for ourselves.
It takes an added level of self love and awareness that I’m not sure I have yet to understand and honor what we are just not built for.
But we can all develop that skill. We can develop it by doing self reflection while having compassion for who we are. You are amazing even if you aren’t amazing at everything. Other people will have the strengths to cover your weaknesses.
So every time you think you aren’t good at something, remind yourself that no one is good at everything.
Until next time,
