I hate driving. I hate the feeling of motion, having to decide every minuscule movement; it’s simply too much for my already over-anxious brain, and I knew that before I ever got behind the wheel. Before I even took my permit test.
This is one example of many, many limiting beliefs I have. But I’m not going to beat myself up for that because it accomplishes nothing and just gives those thoughts more power than they deserve.
So, the next time you are tempted to beat yourself up, take a deep breath and remember that to be a human is to be a work of art that is never finished. You can always improve, but you’re never going to if you just keep punching a brain that’s trying to learn. Just keep telling yourself that everything, even the beliefs we really shouldn’t have, isn’t worth dwelling on.
Instead, let your mind relax and remember that the world isn’t going to end if you’re not perfect, because at the end of the day, perfection doesn’t exist.
Until next time,
