Sometimes a break doesn’t fix things. I know it might sound crazy, but sometimes I feel like I just can’t be fixed. No matter how many walks I take I still can’t seem to feel “better.” Even when I took the most scenic and sun-lit walk around Cornell I couldn’t get back in the car and study, and I was really mad at myself for that. But, I can’t be the only one who feels this way, so I want to stand in solidarity with those that do as well. I feel like sometimes we all tend to carry too much, no matter what it is, and then we act surprised when we can’t seem to lift it anymore. But, instead of wallowing in that failure, I think we could take the opportunity to create because of it.
Sometimes you have to turn what you’re carrying into stepping stones that lift you up. I do that by writing, but what everyone does may be vastly different. Now, I know this sounds like regular coping skills—but it’s not. It’s taking whatever’s weighing you down and putting it into something beautiful. No matter what, everything has a silver lining, and even the most incurable lows can become something beautiful. Something beautiful can be made out of the weight on your back.
Until next time,
Ella Greene
