Being a human is high maintenance. You have to put in a ton of effort in order to be happy and healthy.

But, the effort is worth it. Trying is worth it. I’ve had to remind myself of that many times. Time after time I’ve gotten lost in one thing or another and forgotten that I’m actually a human who should probably stand up every once and a while.

So, let this blog serve as your reminder to do the same. Even if some self care doesn’t automatically fix all of your problems, it’s a good first step. Take the first step. Go for a walk, put the work down, eat a square meal, anything that will remind you that you’re a person before anything else in your life.

When I sit for too long, my leg gets restless; so I’ve learned to listen to it. You should listen to whatever signals your body is giving you too. While you may not understand every signal immediately, taking a deep breath and just thinking about what your body is doing can be very helpful. That’s the best I have for being productive and a human—take breaths.

Anything you have to set aside is worth it to keep yourself physically and mentally healthy. Also, “healthy” doesn’t have one definition, so learn what your definition is and chase it no matter the cost.

Until next time,
