As I reach my 500th podcast episode, I feel like it is the perfect time to head down memory lane. My producer asked me what blog I would direct people to in order to learn about Whinypaluza. We are going to provide everyone with the perfect blog for that today. I hope you will walk through this journey with me and learn about the Whinypaluza Community that I would like to title Whinypaluza World!

Common questions answered for everyone below:

How did Whinypaluza begin?

This is one of my most commonly asked questions. When I had three little kids, I turned to writing as a coping strategy. I would write down what was going on in a way to handle it better. I would get it out on paper, and I felt like I was releasing it out of my body. I also found that as I reflected, I was coming up with better ways to handle things with my children. I also started to notice how often I used my social work skills with my family. My husband Seth told me that I was writing a blog. He tells the story like he suggested the blog, and I said I didn’t have time for a regular blog. I was an overwhelmed mom of three little kids. Seth says my brother Corey then suggested I write a blog and that then I agreed to it. I don’t remember it happening like that, but I trust my husband. Sometimes we need to hear things from more than one person! That is when the blog was born. Lillie was 1 years old and she is now 13 years old.

Where did the title come from?

This is my most asked question! When Seth and I had three little children, they were always whining. We also had our guests notice that we always had a present wrapped waiting on the dining room table. The kids were always going to a birthday party. Between the whining and the parties, Seth said: “It’s Whinypalooza!” That spelling was taken I think so it became Whinypaluza!

Where did the vlog come from?

After I was writing regularly, Seth suggested that we go live and talk about the blog. Once again, I thought he was nuts, but I figured I would try it. The interesting thing is – people would rather listen to me then read! They loved seeing Seth and I talk about a parenting or marriage issue each week and we were regularly getting positive feedback from people. You can find us every Wednesday night live at 9 pm on my personal Facebook page to join us. We love it when people join us live and join into the conversation. However, if you can’t join us live, a lot of people watch it on their own timeframe. I also decided to release the vlog on my podcast the following Wednesday because a lot of people like me would prefer to listen to a podcast.

Why did you start a podcast?

My husband Seth has a few businesses. One of his businesses is BMD publishing which produces podcasts and books. Seth came home from work one day and told me that I would be a great host of a parenting podcast. You will sense a common theme here: I told him no way and that I was too busy. Moms always feel busy! I don’t know how he convinced me, but I decided to try it. He was patient and taught me the technology and off I went to interview parenting and marriage experts every week. Here I am 500 episodes later. It has been an absolutely amazing journey and it doesn’t feel like work at all. I get to talk to experts about my favorite topics. For those of you who don’t know, I have my master’s in social work and was trained to be a family therapist. I have met the most amazing women and have shared content that I am so very proud of. I also have a benefit that I never expected – it has made me a better wife, mom and person in general. I take away tips every week from these experts. It reinforces my training. I also get to talk to renowned experts about my own personal issues. They have helped me tremendously with bumps along the way. Seth and I have had sessions with a couple of amazing women that I met along this incredible journey! I am so blessed to have this opportunity!

Tell me about your Whinypaluza group.

I have a free group on Facebook called The Whinypaluza mom group. I wanted a safe private group for people to go to where they can talk about challenges, share successes and ask questions. I am having a great time in the group. I regularly share tips and ask a lot of questions. The other members share stuff too. I also do challenges every month with a theme and prizes. I ask questions that I want to get people thinking of. Some topic examples were thankfulness and holidays. We would love to have you join us!

Teenage Tuesday by my daughter Ella

My 16 year old daughter Ella has always been a part of Whinypaluza. I remember her brother Max crying on the floor because of a deep cut on his foot and Ella said: “It’s Whinypaluza all over the place.” She sings my intro song and has joined in on many Vlogs with Seth and I. She has decided to do a regular Tuesday blog from the teenager perspective. We are getting a lot of positive feedback about this. I’m so proud of her for taking this initiative.

A newsletter too.

You can sign up for my free newsletter that comes out three times a week so that you don’t miss any of my content. This was another brilliant Seth idea! My marketing master husband!

Don’t forget your two books!

There are two books available to you on Amazon. The first book is titled Whinypaluza. The second book is titled Whinypaluza gets less Whiny. What should the third book be called? I have an idea!

We take requests and suggestions!

One of the wonderful things about my community is that they give me wonderful ideas. There have been many topic requests that I have covered. My kids have made requests too. There have been guests suggested to me. I have also had people ask to be a guest on my podcast. I welcome your suggestions and requests as this content is for you!

How can I find everything?

If you scroll down – there is a link tree with all my content. All my blogs – and Ella’s – are on this website. You can find my live Vlogs on Facebook. You can listen to my podcast anywhere that you like to listen to podcasts. You can even watch them on You Tube!

What is next?

I would love to see my Whinypaluza community continue to grow and evolve. You never know what idea my brilliant husband will come home with. He would like me to develop a membership.  The amazing wonderful Christina Fletcher has told me several times to start back up being a parenting coach. There are definitely things in the works and I have new book ideas! I’m always laughing, learning and loving along the way!

I appreciate it when you share my blogs, vlogs and podcasts with a friend so that we can build our community and help people one mama at a time.
